The Goolz Society is a small voluntary society. There is no membership fee. There are no meetings. There is a newsletter, but it is hand-written, and very rarely sent.
Our purpose, in full:
"To document, with the lightest possible touch, the small green creatures of forest and footnote — and to remind ourselves, at intervals, that the world is bigger than we generally allow."
That's it. That's the society.
This site is presently kept by a single caretaker, who lives somewhere with trees, keeps a hand-bound almanac of small observations, and once observed a Mossback Gool for forty consecutive minutes without blinking (probably).
The caretaker does not claim authority over goolz. No one does. They just hold the keys to the cabinet.
The Society uses .org because it
feels right for a small voluntary society devoted to a
small voluntary subject. The top-level domain has been open to
general use for many years now — we are not misrepresenting
ourselves. We are seven people and a notebook.

This site will not track you. It does not need to. The goolz already know.
